SKF Cooper SAFQ Series Quick-Change Bearing Pedestals

SKF Cooper offers SAFQ inch-series Quick-Change angled bearing pedestals for quick change-out replacement for standard pillow block housings. This new angled design has been available for years as a custom solution but is now available as an SKF Cooper standard. The unique design consists of two split halves for easy assembly around a fixed shaft. The pedestal’s innovative angled bottom-half easily slides under a shaft (even a shaft with low clearance) without requiring the use of a jack or hoist. The pedestals also feature the same superior sealing options as other SKF Cooper products. Typical applications include fans and similar rotating machinery in industries such as mining, marine, steel, power, and generation.

The SAFQ series pedestals are available for shafts with diameters from 2-3/16” to 5-5/16” and join metric series SNQ (for shafts from 45 mm to 145 mm) and SDQ (for shafts from 150 mm to 300 mm ) as economical and time-saving alternatives to standard pillow-block housings (SAF500, SN500, and SD3100 series). All three series integrate standard Cooper 01, 01E, 02, or 02E split-to-the-shaft bearings and are interchangeable with other SKF Cooper split roller bearing pedestals.

SKF Cooper Quick-Change pedestals are designed to replace solid bearings mounted on adapter sleeves in industry-standard pillow block housings and are interchangeable with other SKF cooper pedestals. All have bolt-hole spacing and heights-to-center that correspond to equivalent industry standards for solid bearings. However, the footprint, pedestal height, and length on shaft may differ and should be checked against the available space. Most applications use standard Cooper bearings. However, in some cases cartridges and bearings should have a smaller outside diameter to assure adequate thickness of the pedestal base. This does not affect the load ratings, which will match those of standard bearings of the same bore size.
